Air fryer halloumi is one of the easiest ways to get golden, crispy edges with a soft, salty center, all in under 10 minutes. This version uses sliced halloumi brushed with olive oil, herbs, and garlic, then finished with a squeeze of lemon for brightness. I love serving it as a simple appetizer, adding it to salads or grain bowls, or pairing it with roasted vegetables for an easy vegetarian main.

A Note From Kristen
I love this air fryer halloumi because it turns rich, tangy, salty cheese into something golden and flavorful with very little effort. I simply season the slices, brush them with olive oil and herbs, and let the air fryer do the work. There is no flour or breading involved, which keeps the recipe simple and makes it easy to serve as a quick snack, side dish, or appetizer. It is much easier than pan-frying or grilling since it cooks hands-off, and it is naturally vegetarian, gluten free, egg free, nut free, soy free, and friendly for low-carb and keto diets. Happy eating!

How to Air Fry Halloumi

- Open the halloumi package and slice the cheese into 8 pieces, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Stir together the olive oil, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
- Brush the halloumi slices on both sides with the seasoned oil until evenly coated.

- Drizzle or brush with lemon juice, then serve immediately. Enjoy!

Serving Ideas
Air-fried halloumi tastes incredible on its own, but here are some suggestions to make it a meal or just spruce it up a bit:
- Dips & sauces! You can absolutely treat Halloumi just like fries. Here are some great sauce options to serve with this salty cheese:
- Drizzled with a little raw honey or hot honey (delish!)
- Tzatziki
- Garlic Aioli
- Jalapeño Hot Sauce
- Algerian Sauce
- Serve on a salad like my Mediterranean Cucumber Salad.
- Wrap the air fried halloumi in a tortilla or pita with veggies, Tzatziki, and fries to make vegetarian gyros.
- Halloumi is also delicious with a side of roasted vegetables. My favorites are sweet potatoes, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, cabbage, and kale.

Storing and Reheating
Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat the halloumi in the air fryer or on a baking tray in the oven until piping hot. I wouldn’t recommend microwaving the cheese as it can become rubbery.

Kristen’s Top Tips
- Slice the halloumi into thinner strips to make air fried halloumi fries!
- Try different seasonings and herbs such as black pepper, za’atar, smoked paprika, baharat, cajun seasoning, adobo, taco seasoning, rosemary, or mint.

Sounds yummy! I have an oven style air fryer- do I put foil in the fryer basket to present drips?
Hi, Pati! Thank you! Yes, this should work, as well as parchment paper. Also, depending on the setup of your air fryer, you can also just place a small baking sheet or foil on the rack below the one you are using to catch drips. I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy the recipe!
