Ingredients and Substitutions
Frozen pineapple: It’s easy to make this creamy pineapple smoothie year-round thanks to the use of frozen pineapple chunks, which can be found in the frozen section of most grocery stores. If you prefer using fresh, you can cut a fresh pineapple and store the chunks in the freezer until frozen.
Ice: This lends additional creamy texture and hydration.
Milk: Oat milk makes the perfect plant-based milk option for this smoothie recipe, but almond milk and coconut milk (makes it piña colada-like!) also make excellent choices. If not on a dairy-free or vegan diet, you can use regular whole milk, if you prefer!
Yogurt: I love to use plant-based cashew milk yogurt in this recipe, but coconut yogurt works well as another vegan option. If you are not dairy-free, Greek yogurt works beautifully!
Vanilla: This is my secret ingredient! Vanilla extract adds that beautiful vanilla flavor tone that helps tie all the tropical flavors together.
How to Make a Pineapple Smoothie

Add-ins
Want an extra dose of vitamin C? Add a splash of orange juice to this recipe.
Want to add protein powder? A scoop of vanilla protein powder works great in this recipe.
Want some green power? Add a handful of spinach or kale before blending.
Want to up the sweetness? A teaspoon of raw honey or maple syrup levels this smoothie up to dessert status!
Top Tip
Are you a fan of smoothie bowls? You can most definitely pour this pineapple smoothie into a bowl instead of a glass! It tastes great topped off with fresh fruit like peach slices, chopped mango, strawberry slices or blueberries.
Pineapple is rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, vitamin B6, potassium, and fiber and contains bromelain which is great for digestion.
