Ingredient Substitutions

Noodles

You can use ramen noodles, spaghetti noodles, rice noodles or low-carb shirataki noodles with this recipe. It truly is quite versatile and easy to make with whatever pasta you have on hand.

Coconut Aminos

If you are not sensitive to soy, then soy sauce or tamari can be used in place of coconut aminos.

Apple Cider Vinegar

You can use lemon juice or rice vinegar in place of apple cider vinegar.

Maple Syrup

Honey, agave syrup, coconut sugar or coconut nectar can be used instead of maple syrup in this recipe.

Sriracha

The sriracha adds a slight spicy kick to these noodles. If you are not fond of spicy noodles, then simply omit the sriracha.

I have orders in for most of the supplies for this dish. However, I do have one question about using cilantro. I’ve read pros and cons as to the taste of the cilantro. What are your thoughts on adding cilantro. I kind of a picky eater. Any suggestions for alternates in case I don’t like cilantro. Thanks for sharing your recipes.

    1. Hi, Judy! Thank you for visiting. I’m personally a huge fan of cilantro and think it complements Asian-inspired flavors particularly well. However, there are a lot of people with a genetic variation that actually causes cilantro to taste soap-like. If you are one of them, this recipe is not dependent on it at all, and you can certainly omit it, or replace with chopped green onions, chives, or parsley. I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy the recipe!

  2. Hi, just found this blog. Where do you find gluten free ramen noodles. I have searched and can’t find them anywhere. I miss my Ramen.

Yum yum yum! So quick easy to make, delicious (even with sweet potato noodles) and keeps well! This is a winner.

  4. You may want to specify that ramen noodles are usually wheat- people will need to be sure to purchase rice ramen or other gluten-free ramen.

    1. Hi Haley! Thank you SO much for catching this! I usually add that automatically, being that this is a GF blog, but somehow that was a major oversight on my part. I’ve now updated it. Thanks again! 🙂

This just moved up to the top of my list for noodle sauces. Yum!! The garlic powder and sriracha adds the perfect garlicky kick. Genius. I also added a tsp of arrowroot powder to help the sauce thicken a bit. Thank you for the keeper!

  6. This looks mouthwatering! Gluten free, Vegan, Nut-Free, Soy-Free, and on the table in 10 minutes? I’m sold – thanks for the recipe.
