Combine the plums, maple syrup, water, cardamom, and salt in a saucepan.
Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Add the tea bag and simmer uncovered 10–12 minutes until plums are soft but still hold shape.
Remove the tea bag and stir in the vanilla.
Serve warm or chilled with yogurt, oatmeal, or ice cream.

Storage and Reheating Store the stewed plums in an airtight container and keep the refrigerator for up to 4 days. You can also place them in freezer-safe jars and freeze for up to 5 months. Just thaw them in the fridge before serving.If you need to reheat, do so gently on the stove or in short bursts in the microwave. To keep the flavors and texture fresh, only reheat what you plan on eating.
