A Note From Kristen

This recipe is all about balancing the flavors between the radishes, onions, and the chili oil mixture. You get spicy, savory, and tangy in every bite. I love how the crisp radishes and sharp red onion soak up the bold dressing and mellow just enough as they sit. It’s a simple radish side dish with a lot of flavor and very little effort. A few quick notes on the ingredients that matter most. Find the full ingredient list and instructions in the recipe card below.

  • Radishes: If you want a texture closer to julienned radish salads, slice them into thin matchsticks.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: Either rice vinegar or lime juice can work as a quick substitute if you’re out.

So, What Do I Use This For?

You can use this spicy radish toss as a condiment or topping on just about anything. It’s one of my go-to additions! It’s especially good over rice, tucked into sandwiches or wraps, layered onto avocado toast, or stirred into a stew. It also works really well on veggie burgers for an extra kick. You can serve it as a simple side dish to balance heavier meals, or enjoy it on its own as a quick, punchy salad.

Bold Flavor Hacks

  • Slice the radishes and onion very thin using a knife or mandoline. Thin cuts absorb the chili oil mixture more evenly.
  • For milder onion flavor, soak the sliced onion in cold water for up to 10 minutes, then drain well.
  • The chili oil and vinegar are bold, so sticking to the listed amounts keeps the flavors balanced and lets the radishes shine.
  • Toss just before serving if you want maximum crunch, or let it sit briefly for a deeper, more developed flavor.

Storage
Keep leftovers stored in an airtight container or mason jar in the refrigerator. Consume within 2 days to enjoy the best taste and texture. You can also store the radish and onion slices separately from the chili oil mixture and then just toss them right before serving to maintain the crisp texture of the veggies.
