3-Ingredient Acai Smoothie
This is an easy, nutritious, and delicious three-ingredient acai smoothie recipe. Perfect for starting the day off right! Naturally vegan and gluten-free.
Why You Will Love It
- You only need 3 simple ingredients to make this delicious acai smoothie recipe.
- The superfood acai berry adds both flavor and nutrients.
- This acai smoothie is delightfully fruity and refreshing.
- Naturally vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free, nut-free, and free of added sugars.
Ingredient Notes
Acai puree: Frozen acai packets are nothing more than frozen acai berries pureed and then frozen. Sambazon is a common brand that makes and sells these packets. You can usually find them in health food stores like Whole Foods and even conventional grocery stores like Safeway. Acai berries are packed with antioxidants and add a unique flavor to this smoothie. I do not recommend replacing the frozen acai with acai powder, as the powder form works very differently.
Bananas: The combination of frozen banana with frozen berries adds all the frozen fruit power to this smoothie and ensures a smoothie that comes out smooth and creamy. Banana also adds some natural sweetness that is otherwise lacking in acai.
Coconut Water: Coconut water adds natural sweetness, pairs well with the other tropical flavors in this smoothie recipe, and also adds some welcomed electrolytes.
How to Make an Açaí Smoothie
- To make a delicious acai smoothie, simply combine the three ingredients in a blender or food processor.
- Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy!
Top Tip
Dark chocolate pairs extraordinarily well with acai berries. Make this a dessert smoothie or acai bowl by adding a scoop of cacao powder or cacao nibs for a healthy treat.

Fun and Delicious Variations
- You can pour this superfood smoothie into a bowl for a quick and delicious acai smoothie bowl. Top it with a handful of granola and dig in! It makes one of the most nutritious smoothie bowls.
- For a creamier and more calorie-rich acai berry smoothie, swap the coconut water for coconut milk or almond milk instead.
- You can add a scoop of your favorite protein powder to this smoothie before blending for a thicker smoothie.
- For additional fruitiness, add a handful of frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries, or any other fresh frozen fruit you like before blending.
- A scoop of chia seeds or hemp seeds is a great way to add some nice healthy fats. These can be added before or after blending.
- You can swap the coconut water for a fruit juice like orange juice or even acai juice before blending for a sweeter smoothie.
- Add a spoonful of almond butter or peanut butter for additional plant protein.
- Add a spoonful of plant-based yogurt or Greek yogurt for additional creaminess and a nice dose of probiotics.
