What is feta cheese?
Feta cheese is a dairy product popular in Mediterranean cuisine made in a manner similar to that of other cheeses. It is made from goat's milk or sheep's milk and coagulated with rennet (microbial or animal) or vinegar (when homemade) to produce curds. The curds are then pressed, cut and submerged in a salt brine. It is both creamy and tangy.
Non-toxic + truly non-stick!
Is feta cheese vegetarian?
Some feta cheese is vegetarian, but not all. You will want to look for a label that states the cheese is made with microbial or vegetarian rennet or has a vegetarian-friendly label. If you simply see "rennet" listed on the label, you will want to reach out to the company to inquire.
What does feta cheese pair well with?
Feta cheese pairs well with a wide variety of foods and beverages. A good strategy for pairing feta is to look for ingredients that naturally complement the flavor and texture that feta provides. Salads, breads, bell peppers, cucumber, herbs like fresh dill or fresh parsley, lemon, red onion, garlic, olives, tomatoes, pasta, chickpeas, grapes, potatoes, zucchini and honey are a great place to get started.
