A Note From Kristen

I love how quickly this sriracha aioli comes together. It takes just a few minutes and only five simple ingredients, but the flavor payoff is huge! I use this spicy, garlicky sauce on everything from sandwiches and veggie burgers to roasted vegetables and fries, and it also makes a great dipping sauce or drizzle. One of my favorite things about it is how easy it is to adjust the heat level, so you can make it as mild or as fiery as you like. It’s naturally gluten free, dairy free, and nut free, and it can easily be made vegan too. Happy eating!

Ingredient Notes

Please keep in mind that this is just a quick overview. Visit the full recipe for amounts and instructions!

  • Mayonnaise: It’s best to just use a favorite store-bought mayonnaise in this sriracha mayo recipe. You can use conventional egg-based mayo or if vegan, a vegan mayo like Follow Your Heart Vegenaise.
  • Sriracha: Sriracha is a red chili garlic sauce with a medium spicy kick, making it perfect for this spicy dipping sauce. If you want a milder sauce, use less sriracha chili sauce.
  • Lemon juice: A slight touch of acidity balances all of the flavors in this recipe. If you do not have lemon juice, lime juice is also delicious as is apple cider vinegar or even simple white vinegar.
  • Garlic powder: A touch of garlic powder only enhances the garlic already in the sriracha, making this spicy condiment have even more of a flavorful kick. If you do not have garlic powder, you can use one fresh garlic clove (minced or grated) instead.
  • Sugar: Much like lemon juice, a hint of sweetness adds balance and depth to this easy sriracha aioli. Use any sweetener you prefer. I like to use coconut sugar. But you can also use a liquid sweetener like maple syrup.

  • Drizzle it on tacos, roasted potatoes, salads, or eggs.

What Does Sriracha Aioli Taste Like?

Sriracha aioli tastes creamy, garlicky, and savory with a gentle tang from lemon and a warm chili heat from the sriracha. The mayo softens the spice, creating a smooth, rich sauce that’s bold but balanced rather than overly hot. It has enough flavor to shine as a dip or drizzle without overpowering whatever you pair it with.

How Spicy is Sriracha Mayonnaise?

Sriracha mayo is generally mild to medium spicy, depending on how much sriracha you use. The mayonnaise significantly mellows the heat of the chili sauce, making it approachable even for those who prefer less spice. It’s easy to adjust by adding more or less sriracha until the heat level feels right for you.

Kristen’s Top Tip

This aioli recipe works well with nearly any hot sauce you love, not just sriracha. Vinegar-forward sauces will add more tang, while chili-based sauces bring deeper heat and color. Start with a small amount and adjust to taste, since heat levels and saltiness vary between brands.
