I wanted a ranch dip that was creamy, packed with flavor, and a little higher in protein than the store-bought versions I used to buy. Silken tofu turned out to be the perfect base, and now there’s almost always a container of this in my fridge for vegetables, wraps, sandwiches, and snack plates!

A Note From Kristen

I love having an easy homemade dip in the fridge, and this silken tofu ranch recipe has become one of my favorites. It’s creamy, fresh, packed with protein, and comes together in just a few minutes with simple pantry staples and fresh herbs. I almost always have a batch ready for dipping vegetables, chips, crackers, or fries, and it never seems to last very long around here. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does!

Key Ingredient Notes

A few quick notes on the ingredients that matter most. Find the full ingredient list and instructions in the recipe card below.

  • Silken Tofu: Silken tofu is what makes this ranch incredibly smooth and creamy while adding plenty of protein. For the best results, don’t substitute firm or extra-firm tofu. Soft tofu is the closest alternative, though the texture won’t be quite as silky.
  • Vegan Mayonnaise: Makes the dip creamy and gives it a ranch-like consistency. I like to use Follow Your Heart Vegenaise. Vegan Greek yogurt or vegan sour cream can be used as a substitute if needed. If you are not vegan, you can use regular mayo!
  • Fresh Dill: Fresh dill gives this ranch its signature fresh flavor. If using dried dill instead, use about one-third as much.

What to Serve with Tofu Ranch

  • Serve with a veggie tray or snack board featuring carrot sticks, celery, cucumber slices, bell pepper strips, broccoli florets, or snap peas.
  • Spoon over baked potatoes or use as a sauce for veggie burgers, sandwiches, and wraps.
  • Enjoy as a dip with pita chips, crackers, pretzels, tortilla chips, or potato chips.
  • Drizzle over salads or grain bowls as a creamy high-protein ranch dressing.
  • Use as a dip for my oven baked fries, sweet potato fries, potato wedges, or roasted potatoes.
  • Pair with buffalo cauliflower wings or crispy cajun tofu.

Kristen’s Top Tips

  • Fresh dill gives the best flavor. If using dried dill, start with less and adjust to taste.
  • For a thinner, dressing-like consistency, blend in 1 to 3 tablespoons of water or unsweetened plant-based milk.
  • This ranch tastes even better after a few hours in the refrigerator as the flavors continue to develop. Store leftovers in an airtight container so you always have a quick dip, spread, or dressing on hand!
  • Want even more protein? Use a high-protein silken tofu, or add 2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast before blending for an extra protein boost.

Notes

Storage
Keep any unused tofu ranch dip in a jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. I don’t recommend freezing it for longer storage, since the ingredients may separate and develop a watery texture once thawed.
