    Tips, Tricks, and Substitutions FAQ

I don't have whole spices, can I use ground spices in this recipe?

Yes, you can. When I make it with ground I like to use:
1 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon cardamom, 1/2 teaspoon cloves, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper as a replacement for the whole spices. Prepare the same way, straining is optional.

Can I make this without caffeine?

Most certainly. You can omit the tea bag, use decaffeinated black tea or experiment with other teas. I love making this tea with rooibos for a mellow version.

    Can this be made sugar-free?

Yes. You can use any sweetener of choice or omit altogether.
