What ingredients are needed to make Vegan Coleslaw?
Coleslaw mix or thinly sliced/shredded green and red cabbage, and carrots.
Vegan mayonnaise. I like Thrive Market’s brand of vegan mayo.
Apple cider vinegar.
Salt & black pepper.
How to Make Vegan Coleslaw — Step by Step
Combine coleslaw dressing ingredients in a bowl.
2. Mix until smooth.
3. Pour coleslaw mix into bowl with dressing.
4. Toss to coat.
5. Chill or enjoy right away!
Top Tips for Making Vegan Coleslaw
A good quality vegan mayonnaise makes a difference. I really love Thrive Market’s brand of vegan mayo. If you can’t get it, I recommend looking for one with similar ingredients!
Vegan Keto or Low Carb Coleslaw
Even with the addition of a tiny bit of coconut sugar, this vegan coleslaw recipe is still considered keto or low-carb, but it will still be equally delicious if you omit the sugar altogether, or make it sugar-free with the addition of a sugar-free sweetener such as this one.

This coleslaw can be enjoyed straight away or refrigerated until ready to serve. I do find it to grow even creamier after some time in the refrigerator. To store, place the coleslaw in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to one week.

- 1 9 to 14 ounce bag of coleslaw mix (about 3 cups or 300 grams) or 3 cups shredded cabbage and carrots, mixed
- 1/2 cup vegan mayo (115 grams)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon coconut sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- sea salt or pink salt, to taste
- In a large bowl combine coleslaw dressing ingredients (mayo, mustard, vinegar, sugar, and spices). Mix until smooth.
- Pour coleslaw mix into bowl. Mix until all is well coated.
