Notes
Storing Burrito Sauce
Keep any unused burrito sauce in an airtight container or glass jar, and then store it in the fridge. It’ll be good to consume for up to 5 days.Nutrition
Ingredient Notes
Sour Cream: Adds a slight tang and a smooth, creamy consistency to the sauce. You can use vegan sour cream if necessary.
Mayonnaise: Provides a silky texture that binds all the flavors together to create a cohesive-tasting burrito sauce. You can use vegan mayo if necessary.
Apple Cider Vinegar: Imparts a slight acidity that keeps the sauce from being too heavy.
Hot Sauce: Gives the sauce a bold, spicy kick while balancing the flavors. I prefer using a red habanero sauce but feel free to use whatever fits your spice preferences or even omit altogether if you prefer a milder sauce.
Smoked Paprika: Provides a rich, smoky flavor while giving the sauce a warm, attractive color.
Garlic Powder: Adds a savory, umami-like taste to the burrito sauce.
Ground Cumin: Imparts a warm, earthy flavor that helps give the sauce its signature burrito flavor.
Salt: Enhances the natural flavor of the other ingredients.
Water: Helps thin the sauce to a desirable consistency.
