🗒️ Ingredient Notes

Sauce: Pizza sauce or marinara sauce is perfect for making pizza bowls. You can make your own at home, but I prefer to use a sauce straight from the jar for ease. It really cuts down on prep time!

Pizza Crust: I find that a chopped baguette has the perfect texture to mimic a thick pizza crust. You can use gluten-free or conventional, or even low-carb bread to make this keto friendly. For a gluten-free option, I highly recommend Schar Gluten Free Baguette.

Toppings: I like to use thinly sliced red onion, minced garlic, pepperoncini rings, kalamata olives, and fresh basil. You can add whatever toppings are your favorite. See below for a list of recommendations!

Cheese: Both mozzarella and parmesan cheese are added to make this pizza bowl recipe extra cheesy. Use vegetarian parmesan if needed, or vegan mozzarella and parmesan alternatives to make this 100% plant-based.

Herbs: Fresh herbs add an amazing burst of flavor! I love fresh basil to make these pizza bowls taste a bit like a Margherita pizza. In a pinch, add Italian seasoning instead.

🥡 How to Store & Reheat

Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Ideally, the ramekins that the pizza bowl was baked in will either have a lid, or you can use a reusable lid or even saran wrap. Uncooked leftover ingredients should be stored separately when possible, to keep them as fresh as possible.

Reheat in the oven or microwave until piping hot.

💭 Top Tips

Be sure to bake the pizza bowls in oven-safe bowls. Pyrex, glass, or ceramic are great options.

Following the keto diet? Turn this into a Keto Pizza Bowl by using keto-friendly bread for the crust. On the other hand, you can make it a crustless pizza bowl recipe by skipping the bread entirely and adding more toppings and cheese.

Feeling adventurous? Make your own pizza dough to break up into this bowl! I have so many great pizza crust recipes: Gluten-free, millet, brown rice, coconut flour, quinoa, red lentil, and almond flour!

Need this to be vegan? Use vegan mozzarella and parmesan! I like Violife’s options. They taste great!

Serve with a side of my Pizza Aioli. It’s garlicky and addictive!

Delicious! I was worried about the bread getting soggy, but the baguette holds up well and has the chewy texture of pizza crust. Excellent!
